【摘要】:1.1Thispracticesetsforthrequirementstoensureconsistencyinneutron-induceddisplacementdamagetestingofsiliconandgalliumarsenideelectronicpieceparts.Thisrequirescontrolsonfacility,dosimetry,tester,andcommunicationsprocessesthataffecttheaccuracyandreproducibilityofthesetests.Itprovidesbackgroundinformationonthetechnicalbasisfortherequirementsandadditionalrecommendationsonneutrontesting.Inadditiontoneutrons,reactorsareusedtoprovidegamma-raypulsesofintensitiesanddurationsthatarenotachievableelsewhere.Thispracticealsoprovidesbackgroundinformationandrecommendationsongamma-raytestingofelectronicsusingnuclearreactors.1.2Methodsarepresentedforensuringandvalidatingconsistencyinneutrondisplacementdamagetestingofelectronicpartssuchasintegratedcircuits,transistors,anddiodes.Theissuesidentifiedandthecontrolssetforthinthispracticeaddressthecharacterizationandsuitabilityoftheradiationenvironments.Theygenerallyapplytoreactorand14-MeVneutronsourceswhenusedfordisplacementdamagetesting,andapplyto252Cftestingwhenthissourceisusedforthisapplication.Facilityandenvironmentcharacteristicsthatintroducecomplicationsorproblemsareidentified,andrecommendationsareofferedastohowproblemscanberecognizedandminimizedorsolved.Thispracticemaybeusedbyfacilityusers,testpersonnel,facilityoperators,andindependentprocessvalidatorstodeterminethesuitabilityofaspecificenvironmentwithinafacilityandofthetestingprocessasawhole,withtheexceptionoftheelectricalmeasurements,whichareaddressedinotherstandards.AdditionalinformationonconductingirradiationscanbefoundinPracticesE798andF1190.Thispracticealsomaybeofusetotestsponsors(thatis,organizationsthatestablishtestspecificationsorotherwisehaveavestedinterestintheperformanceofelectronicsinneutronenvironments).1.3Methodsforevaluationandcontrolofundesiredcontributorstodamagearediscussedinthispractice,andreferencestorelevantASTMstandardsandtechnicalreportsareprovided.Processesandmethodsusedtoarriveattheappropriatetestenvironmentsandspecificationlevelsforelectronicssystemsarebeyondthescopeofthispractice;however,theprocessfordeterminingthe1-MeVequivalentdisplacementspecificationsfromoperationalenvironmentneutronspectrashouldemploythemethodsandparametersdescribedherein.Someimportantconsiderationsareaddressedinthrough(Nonmandatoryinformation)..Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
