【摘要】:Thelocalizedcrushingbehaviorofwoodorwood-baseproductsbeneathafastenerwherethefastenerdoesnotbendprovidesamaterialpropertythatisusedintheoreticalmodelsforconnectionswherecrushingorfastenerbending,orboth,occur.Thesetheoreticalmodelsareusedtoestablishdesignvaluesforwoodandwood-baseconnections.Thetestsareappropriatewhenstudyingtheeffectsofsuchvariablesasfastenerdiameter,fastenerholesize,moisturecontent,specificgravity,andgraindirectiononthedowel-bearingstrength.1.1Thistestmethodprovidesthebasicprocedureforevaluatingdowel-bearingstrengthofwoodandwood-basedproducts.Thebearingtestresultsareusedtodeterminethestaticloadresistanceanddeformationcharacteristicsofconnectionsinwoodandwood-baseproductsresultingfromtheapplicationofaloadtransmittedbyafastenerinsertedintoapredrilledhole,ordrivenwithoutdrilling.Methodsaregivenforpreparingspecimenswithpredrilledholeslargerthanthefastenerdiameterandspecimenswithholesproducedbyinsertingfastenersinholessmallerthanthefastenerdiameter.Themethodsapplytofastenerssuchasdowels,bolts,nails,spikes,driftpins,screws,lagscrews,andstaples.1.2Thistestmethodalsoprovidesthebasisfordeterminingthecompressionbehaviorofwoodproductsbeneathalaterallyloadedfastenerwherethethicknessoftheproductandthediameterofthefasteneraresuchthatminimalbendingofthefasteneroccursduringtesting.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
